Novel is bleak but fiercesome strong stuff and Hillcoat’s The Proposition is one of my favorite films these last few years. Plus Viggo in the lead. It just screams excellence and I can’t wait.
It’s apparent that they’ve made some extrapolations to the novel. The disaster was never explained. It might not be properly explained here either, but there’s hints of natural disaster. And as has been pointed out everywhere else, Charlize Theron’s character role seems to have been expanded greatly.
Looks like they’re trying to sell it as some sort of near future Mad Max action-thriller, something that the novel essentially wasn’t, and I doubt the film will be either.
Otherwise, good to see Dillahunt, the new favorite in creepy character actors, but where is Pearce?
Dillahunt is all kinds of fun in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. If there is a 3rd season (doubtful) he would appear to play a large role.
It seems pretty apparent from the bathroom scene (in the book) and the visuals that this was a nuclear war. Why the natural disasters?
Some beautiful images already. Like I said in the Most Anticipated 2009 thread
