The winner is (drumroll please)… James!
Few will be surprised by this. It’s been largely expected for a while. He was close to losing it for a short time there, but he stuck through and proved to all in the last weekend that he’s a worthy winner of this year’s AGEBOC. Just plain well done and played.
I was thinking long and hard about some form of prize. Maybe some flash animation with the winner’s name, fireworks going off in the background. But then I’d have to learn programming, plus it would be kinda cheesy, so I skipped that.
It was when I was walking inside a weird Asian trinket shop that I saw it. It called to me. I realized that it was what we had been looking for so long, unconsciously. I haven’t given him a name yet.

It’s getting a little metal plaque at the bottom that says “King of the AGEBOC”. (Added a small note there just for appearances sake, so you can get an idea of what it will look like once it’s done.)
The recipient of the prize must agree to the following conditions:
1. The recipient shall pass on (paying postage and all) the prize to the next winner of the AGEBOC. Unless that winner is him- or herself, then he or she can keep it, until there comes another winner of the AGEBOC.
2. The recipient promises to take care of the prize and buy a new one (with a metal plaque saying “King of the AGEBOC”) that looks similar or better, if he or she loses, breaks or damages the prize beyond recognition and/or use.
3. The current recipient makes sure that the next recipient/winner repeats and agrees to the above conditions.
I’ll mail it to James once the engraving’s done.
Runner-up is Brian, winner of last year’s AGEBOC, who was very, very close to taking it home again this year again. Good job, man! For him I have this (remember to enter your name in correctly). Almost as good as that trip to Mexico, eh?
Everyone, thanks for joining! I do f-ck up sometimes with the schedule of this thing, but overall I’ve had a fun time. Hope you did, too.

Damn, if I knew there was going to be a prize I would have tried harder to win. I kid of course… I tried to win simply for the bragging rights. Well done James!
Speaking of the prize… very cool idea to pass it on from one winner to the next like a Miss Universe tiara. I paused briefly wondering how exorbitant the shipping cost to Sweden would be if Nick won, but then I realized how silly I was being.
Thanks all for letting me play… I had much fun and I look forward to the next contest!
Congrats, James. Thought I might have you beat but in the end, when it was time for a clutch guess, I was off 133% or so.
It feels so anti-climactic, I’m not even pumped enough to do a victory lap filled with trash talking.
That trophy is damned sweet though.
Great stuff Nick. And congrats James.
Looking at the trophy, a title along the lines of ‘Wise Man of the AGEBOC’ seems more appropriate.
At this point, I guess Nick can just mail it to the winner of HAGEBOC…?
I fear we’ve lost Nick to work and/or video games.
I’ll see if I can post an ad for a new Swede on Craiglist.
