Predict the #1 film for the weekend of December 17-19, 2010. The one who predicts closest to the total Friday to Sunday gross for the #1 film wins 4 points. Runner-up gains 2 points. Predicting within half a million earns 2 extra points.
Super Catch-Up Bonus 1:
Predict the #2 film for the weekend of December 17-19, 2010. The one who predicts closest to the total Friday to Sunday gross for the #2 film wins 4 points. Runner-up gains 2 points. Predicting within half a million earns 2 extra points.
Bonus 2:
Which film will have a larger opening weekend gross in relation to their budget: Tron Legacy or How Do You Know? Example: A 100 million dollar film that opens to 25 million = 25% of their budget.
Deadline is Thursday at 11:59 pm EST.
Scores:
Nick – 12 points

Marco – 6.5 points
Filmman – 2.5 points
Rob – 2 points
Juan – 2 points
James – 2 points
Joe Webb – 1 point

Swamped tonight so scores coming tomorrow UNLESS someone wants to earn half a point and calculate them for me. First comer only!
Oh, and Nick wins the banner contest! Filmman’s entry gets an A+ in concept, but the details are lost when shrunk to banner size.
Juan’s is classy looking and may make an appearance in the coming weeks. However, I’m fairly certain it’s a promotional still from the movie Whiteout…
Up yours, James…on both counts.
haha! It’s the winning concept, just figure out a way to re-work it into banner size.
It’s from Smila’s Sense of Snow. I thought it would be funny.
Yay, I won! I’s the bestest.
I’ve now reworked the scorecard into its appropriate configuration.
Now I have to find out what the budget for Tron 3D was.
Tron Legacy – $25m
Super Catch-Up Bonus 1 – How Do You Know $23m
Bonus 2 – How Do You Know
Nick, if you did the scoring, I believe you forgot Joe.
Ha, yes, he wasn’t on the original scorecard, so he got lost in the copy-pasting. Sorry, Joe. Now your name’s on the board.
I hope this isn’t sharing too much info, but can we agree on the budgets we’re relating to?
I’ve seen $200m for Tron Legacy and between $90-120m for How Do You Know? so I’m not sure what to go on.
200M for Tron and 120M for How Do You Do seem to be the average figures so let’s go with them.
$200 million for Tron and $120 million for HDYK are the accepted numbers out there.
Damn you, James.
Why do I have to perform math in my head and on paper to be a part of HAGEBOC?
TRON – 24 million
1. How Do You Know
2. (see, now if I mess up the math and contradict myself here, I’ll look like an idiot…well, more of an idiot than I normally do, anyway. Now I’ll be a math-ignorant idiot.) HDYK – see, i’m so frazzled…did I mess up?
You need a number for bonus question 1 if you want all the points.
Tron, 44 mil
1. Yogi Bear, 18 mil
2. Tron
Don’t tell him that.
That’s even worse!
All bets are off given my current performance. I’m planning on randomly changing the bonus questions at 11:50 tomorrow night “oops, you should have kept refreshing the page, people!”
Tron Legacy – $41.5 million
1. Yogi Bear – $23 million
2. Tron Legacy
Alright, I’ll *give* all my points to Rob is Tron does over 30 million.
Tron Legacy $41.41 million
1) Yogi Bear $26.26 million
2) Tron Legacy (although HDYK’s budget is actually $100m after tax incentives!)
Aw snaps. I was going to go with 44.444 million, but I won’t do that to JS.
Tron: Legacy $45.678m
1. Yogi Bear $22.222m
2. Tron: Legacy
Does expansion into wide release count as opening weekend?
Whether it does or doesn’t – I still encourage you to pick Black Swan as the #1 film of the weekend.
Damn, I figured I’d have the highest Tron prediction. Now my margin for victory is slim.
Tron Legacy – 29M
1. Yogi Bear – 28M
2. Tron Legacy
Yogi Bear opens this week?
Okay…
Yogi Bear: 29 Million
1. Tron: 25 million
2. How Do You Know
Nick makes things more interesting by not getting his guess in on time.
I know, grrr. I overslept.
Tron is hovering around 47 and How Do You Know bombs with around 9 million for the weekend. Yogi Bear 17. Black Swan and Fighter doing good with 9 and 11, respectively.
If HDYK only makes 9, that means it was less-attended than Spanglish’s opening weekend, which netted 8.8 in 2004.
I’d like to be the first to wish Mr. Brooks good luck getting anything without the word “Simpsons” in the title greenlit from here on out.
Looks like Joe or Slim will win and Rob will be receiving filmman’s 2.5 points.
Slim is staring 12 points in the face!!
I just hope I get a runner-up duo to save my season
How is he so good?
How much is bonus question 2 worth? I don’t believe James mentions that.
The way I figure it, I get 4 points, plus 2 for the bonus for the #1 movie, and 4 points in Bonus question 1, for a total of 10. Joe gets two points for each, for a total of 4. Whoever said Tron gets credit for Bonus question 2.
I second that emotion!
