  1. Going to be away from Monday till Wednesday next week, so will need someone to take over the ceremonial sceptre then.

  2. I’m going first this week, in an attempt to break out of my early-season funk.

    MIB³ – $47 million

    I’ll do it.

  4. Men in Black 3 – 35M

Surprisingly, MIB 3 is getting some decent reviews – but I expect negative reaction to the second film and a decade between installments is going to result in poor grosses.

  5. Men in Black 3 – 65 million

You, sir, underestimate the Fresh Prince…VASTLY. He’s gonna work it GOOD between now and the opening. Everyone *wants* him back to form after Hancock and the stupid dramas. He will be, and the plebes will eat it up.

  6. Back to form after HANCOCK and the stupid dramas? His only real misstep box office-wise was SEVEN POUNDS. His three movies before that (PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS, HANCOCK and I AM LEGEND) all made between $165m-256m.

That said I hated MIB2 and 3 looks incredibly underwhelming.

  7. I was commenting on the ‘type’ of film. Not their merits or box office performance. None of those movies were ‘Aw, hell naw’ Will Smith. They were dark dramas (Hancock was not a comedy) that had him ‘branching out’. And you answered my point. THOSE movies made that much with him in it. When he goes back to his sweet spot…Will Smith audiences will eat it up.

This scene is classic Will Smith:

Mockingly: “Best of the best of the best, sir…with honors…”

They will show to see that Will Smith again.

  8. Any big star can have a resurgence (well, most, anyway) but I think it would require Smith to change how he’s handled his career so far. Up the output and do some riskier films and roles. Man has charisma to burn, but it’s always a film or two a year, same three or four kind of roles. He should have done Django, for example.

  9. I don’t think Django would’ve been right for him. He’s no Samuel L. and Foxx can take the chances he can’t.
He just needs to get back to his bread-and-butter.

Dang, Slim……….do I change my guess, or leave it where it is? Do I go higher, or hope for about 64? Hmmm….

  10. Stick with your first guess. I REALLY want to go higher cause I know I lowballed it, but I’m gonna stick to my first guess out of respect for you good people.

  11. Juan: The others would not have your sense of propriety. While I nod my head in agreement, my gut says to go higher.
