  1. Above should have read 08:59am not pm, which would have been before the box-offices started opening and numbers started to drop in. But you’re right, changed to Wednesday now.

  2. Star Trek: 80 million

    1. Pain and Gain
    2. 42

I have no idea what to put for the bonuses, so…

  3. STAR TREKKIN 2 : $84.5 million

    1) Pain ‘n’ Gain
    2) Forty Two

And I’m still confused by “23:59am”

  4. So am I out? Confused. Anyway – I’ll put in my guesses just in case.

Star Trek: Wrath of Khan Redux – $82 million

    1) Pain and Gain
    2) 42

  5. James gets this one easily (only 70 mil for the three-day), with Nick second. I think everyone gets a half point for the bonuses (it’s Pain and Gain and The Croods at 4 and 5, but 42 is only a bit behind so that may change in actuals)

  6. I’m not. The marketing was absolutely terrible (little to no plot details, overly dour, derivative, completely lacking the sense of wonder/fun of the campaign for the last film).

However, it’s the four year gap between installments that killed them. They lost all the momentum they gained from the 2009 film’s success.

IF there’s a third film, they need it out by 2015.

  7. Well, that won’t happen with Abrams as director, since he’s doing Star Wars 7 now. It’s too bad, I think it’s the best of all the Star Trek movies, no matter what cast.

  8. There’s talk of Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) taking over on ST3. It would probably be 2016 though since that will be the 50th anniversary of the show.

And “best of all the Star Trek movies, no matter the cast?” Looking forward to that review…

  9. I think Nick is having/has had a medical procedure done so I will fill in the results. If no new contest is up by tonight I can fill that in as well.
