AGEBOC ’14 June 6-8

Standard

James holds on to his tenuous lead!

Predict the #1 film of the weekend.

The one who predicts closest to the total Friday to Sunday gross for the #1 film wins 4 points. Runner-up gains 2 points. Predicting within half a million earns 2 extra points.

Bonus Questions:

1. Which film will be #2?

2. Mike Myers’s biggest opening was Shrek The Third (to a whopping $121.6m). Will Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon earn more or less per theater than that 2007 film’s opening weekend average ($29,507 Fri-Sun)?

Deadline is Thursday June 5 11:59pm (blog time)

  1. Slim is my nemesis.

Fault in our Stars: 49.1 million
    1. Edge of Tomorrow
    2. Less

Those who don’t know the overwhelming power of the asinine and frankly destructive nature of the ‘hope movement’ (or “faux optimism in the face of harsh reality” movement) of the Greens among young teenage girls is not on Tumblr.

  2. The Fault in Our Stars – $35 million

    1. Oblivion 2, er… I mean Edge of Tomorrow
    2. Less

  3. I propose that any remaining AGEBOC’s be ‘silent bidding’ AGEBOC’s so shitheads can’t swoop in at the last minute and just go a hundred thousand over the last highest guess.

  4. I know it’s silly, but you know they’re going to try and sequelize Stars. They’d kind of be foolish not to.

  5. Actual is $48,002,523. That means I win and Filmman, my nemesis, gets second, because he Price-is-righted me. Ha, Filmman, hoist with your own petard!

  6. Actuals are in, with the biggies already being summarized above. Additionally, Supermench made a little over $5k/theater, so that’s a big “Less.” And I really see no reason for silent bidding.

    Juan

    James

    1. Maleficent +0.5
    2. Less +0.5

  7. Who put Joe in charge?
I demand a recall! Or at least an amendment to the by-laws to force guesses to remain at least 1 million away from the other.

  8. And I really see no reason for silent bidding.

I don’t either. As we see in this example, it can backfire. We only need silent bidding in the last week with those who can win.
