I’m terrified to click the ‘Dream A Little Dream’ description.

“Here’s the plot of this wacky 80’s comedy, followed by some irrelevant and depressing information!”

If you click through the link the the rest reads “who died of a heart attack while filming in Mexico in 1994”. However, that was another movie (Wagons East) filmed nearly a decade after Summer Rental‘s release so there’s really no purpose for its inclusion.

  1. Summer Rental is great, vintage Candy. Worth it for the waterskiing scene alone. Or was that The Great Outdoors? Regardless…classic stuff, that.

  2. The only one I’ve seen out of those four is – believe it or not – Meet Wally Sparks. Pretty uninspired as most later Dangerfield comedies were iirc.

  3. Re: Summer Rental, you’d guess that the director of that would be an anonymous, fairly youthful (back when it was made) director. But it was in fact Carl Reiner who would confuse everybody with his next film being called ‘Summer School’.

  4. A vintage James post.

As a kid I gave up on Summer Rental in Act One.

The Devil’s Advocate is worth it for Reeves’ Cameron Poe level unnecessary southern accent.
