Okay, so know real answers this episode, and more questions:
Did Henry Gale/Ben know that the plane was going to crash? Did he know who was on it? (If he did, why did he need lists from Ethan and the other guy). We were led to believe last season that the magnetic force that pulled the plane down was caused when Desmond ventured out of the hatch, killed his mentor, and didn’t get back in time to enter the numbers in the computer. That doesn’t mesh with a premeditated forcing of the plane down. But their have been signs all along that the passengers were chosen especially to be on that plane.
It, of course, brings up a million more questions…
It seems like we now know where the polar bear came from. But were there other escaped animals from the dharma zoological intiative?
Does Kate need to be wined and dined and treated like a lady in order to be experimented upon? Is Sawyer just an animal? Does Jack need to be the one operating table?
Clearly it appears to be psychological experiments…do they only need 2 weeks to break them? Was the kid prisoner just there to test Sawyer? Seems too convenient that he broke out just after Sawyer got there.
And what were the drugs they were given? Just the ones with the numbers? What do they know about the other stations and who was assigned to those stations? Obviously Kelvin signed up for the dharma initiative, but Desmond was there by chance. In previews for next week’s show the Others are completely unaware that there was a boat on the island (desmond’s) for many years.
So they wanted lists to research everyone “interesting”. So they’ve had jack, kate, and sawyer’s pasts for awhile and found them to be the most intriguing? Did they really let Michael and Walt go?
I guess it doesn’t take long to get from underwater to the surface because “juliet” was down, had time to come up and shoot sawyer, then back down to head-shrink jack some more…. it was entitled a tale of two cities, which deals with twins/lookalikes, class systems, revolution, etc…. How does that relate? In a broader sense it might be easier to find how it doesn’t relate.
Like I said, I could go on and on with questions. No real answers except in the first minute where we see the others living in a village. Maybe M. Night was behind this?
I am sooo glad Lost is back. I loved the thread about Sawyer figuring out the polar bear food puzzle. Me and my boyfriend have been joking about fishbiscuits ever since.
It’s too early in the season to really start wondering about the why’s, but I do have a neat crackpot theory that probably has nothing to do with anything:

Most common theory amongst my buddies over here is a silly one, but the only one that makes any kind of sense. Aliens, basically. More detailed speculation has run along the lines of ‘The Others’ starting out as scientists researching the island due to it being some sort of former alien colony of some kind, but that gradually or suddenly the aliens, in some direct or passive form or another, took over and turned the tables so that the others either started running or becoming part of an experiment on themselves or just humans in general, in the form of the people stranded on the island.
The mice began running the scientist running maze.
How else explain the weird ‘guardian’ swirling around, and that giant foot, except for aliens?
Actually, I suppose the foot and the guardian could be leftover Mu artifacts, and the Black Rock ship could have crashed while searching for the lost continent. I initially tossed off the Lost Continent of Mu theory as a coincidence but I never made those connections.
Aliens just dont seem like a Lost thing, I dunno. It would be too easy, like the “they’re dead” theory.
